A band- there's always live music- charges the atmosphere with frenetic energy. Dancing girls whirl and cavort enticingly, their bodies strung with beads of sweat that glitter like jewels in the brilliant stage light. Patrons gather at darkened tables, conversing quietly amongst themselves or hungrily drinking in the nubile feast before them. Deep shadows reduce the watchers to vague suggestions of form, and that's how they like it: they value their privacy and it's unwise to look too closely. Not all the monsters look it; quite a few appear disturbingly human. |
